Frequently Asked Questions
-
I work primarily with real estate professionals and investors, including real estate agents, rental property owners, and fix-and-flip investors.
Real estate businesses can have a lot of moving pieces, so I focus on keeping the bookkeeping organized in a way that makes sense for how your business actually operates.

Nope! You do not need to get everything cleaned up before reaching out.
If your bookkeeping has fallen behind or needs some correcting and reorganizing, we can start with a cleanup or catch-up project to get things back on track.
From there, cleanup can either be a standalone service or the first step before moving into monthly bookkeeping.
-
I handle the bookkeeping side of your monthly financial activity, including categorizing transactions, reconciling your accounts, processing receipts, and preparing your monthly financial reports.
You’ll still be responsible for running your business — paying bills, invoicing customers or tenants, processing payroll, and providing documents or answers when I need additional information.
I do not provide accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll processing, or tax preparation.
-
There is usually more work required at the beginning.
During onboarding, I may need account access, statements, documents, information about your business, and answers to questions that only you can provide. If your books need cleanup, there may be some additional homework while we get everything organized.
Once that upfront work is complete, the monthly process becomes much simpler. Once a month, I will request any missing documentation and ask any questions just for the previous month, which maybe a few, or none.
My goal is to create a consistent rhythm so bookkeeping is no longer something you have to continually think about or catch up on.

Monthly bookkeeping clients receive a Hubdoc subscription as part of their bookkeeping service at no additional cost.
You can upload receipts and supporting documents through the Hubdoc app, and I’ll process and organize them as part of your monthly bookkeeping.
For other financial documents I need (such as loan statements, closing statements, or property-related documents) I’ll usually request these via my monthly request (which is done via Content Snare).
-
That’s the goal.
Your bookkeeping should give you more than a list of transactions. I organize the books based on how your business operates so your financial reports give you a clearer picture of where your money is coming from, where it’s going, and how the business is performing.
For investors with multiple properties or projects, that may also include organizing the bookkeeping so individual properties or projects can be viewed more clearly when appropriate.
-
Absolutely — and I encourage it.
I do not prepare tax returns, but I keep your bookkeeping organized throughout the year so your tax preparer has clean, reliable financial information to work with.
With your permission, I’m also happy to communicate with your tax preparer when bookkeeping questions come up or they need information from the books.
-
Yes. I work exclusively in QuickBooks Online.
If you’re currently using spreadsheets or another bookkeeping system, that doesn’t necessarily mean we can’t work together. We can determine whether moving your bookkeeping into QuickBooks Online makes sense for your business.
-
There isn’t one perfect point when every business owner needs to outsource their bookkeeping.
You may be ready if bookkeeping keeps getting pushed to the bottom of your list, you’re unsure whether your accounts are actually reconciled, tax time turns into a scramble, your business has become more financially complicated, or you don’t have current reports you feel confident relying on.
Sometimes the answer is also much simpler: you’re capable of doing the bookkeeping yourself, but it’s no longer the best use of your time.
